Jordan has been nice enough to keep us company on a couple of other occasions and he's agreed to sign on permanently for us when mom and dad go out of town - like this weekend! yipee! all the chocolate, cheeze, and paper we can eat! we can't wait! should be good times this weekend! don't worry 'bout us ma and pa!

where's that boxer?

i haven't been able to update everyone on the adopted boxer situation due to our flooding, so here it is. we don't currently have Rocky. we're not sure if or when we'll get him. turns out his owner (future ex-husband of our vet lady) had decided he will "bring him down when he's good and ready". actually, with the flood that worked to our advantage. maybe not so good for Rocky, but this would have made a challenging situation even more daunting.
another ray of sunshine that did come out of this though, is the soon-to-be-ex-wife,Kris, really would like to keep him if she can find a house for herself and her kids. AND we have another vet employee, Kristen, that would be more than willing to take him in if she can convince her boyfriend - what is it with the men? AND another vet employee, Stacey, that says she'd help foster him until one of those 2 could possibly take him - in the event said future ex shows up unexpectedly with him. SO, we're hoping that between us (when the flood goes down) and Kristen & Stacey, we could all foster him and his original mom Kris could keep him. and that would allow us to keep our mom too! keep your paws crossed!

thank goodness for swim lessons!

we're gonna need them. looks like the river is s'posed to come up this week and we'll be surrounded by water again. i'm a pro so i'm not worried, but brother has never been through a flood like this before. it's a good thing pa worked with him this summer. 'course we have Rocky coming tomorrow so this should be interesting. we'll try to get mom to take some pics and post 'em.

a cry for help

well, mom has gone and done it now.  2+ weeks ago, mom took me in to have a suspicious growth on my gumline checked.  it's nothing really and i go in tomorrow to have it removed along with some other gum issue taken care of.  note to self: must not eat so many brownies.  brother will be accompanying me so i won't be scared.

anywho, on that first visit one of the nice ladies at the vet asked mom is she wanted another boxer.  and we all know how she answered that!  but she did say she couldn't take another boxer.  but then the nice lady began to tell the story of this boxer and before we left, mom volunteered to FOSTER this little boy.  she swears this is not like last time and it really is just a foster.  well, it has to be cuz pa is not too happy with ma right now.  so, we get our new sleepover friend next Tues (16th) and mom is already trying to find someone that wants a new family member.

we don't know much at this point except:  male, boxer, fawn, 18 months.  she promises to take pictures and post them here and other places to try and find a home for him.  so if you have the time, please check back with us and ask around if you know someone that could use a new family member.  we highly recommend boxers!

special brownies

hi! butters here! sister is off taking a nap and mom and dad are at work, so i thought i'd take advantage of the moment. since sister had so much fun making fun of my "rock bowl", i thought i'd take the opportunity to tell you how bad she can be. seems dad left a bunch of brownies (6 to be exact) on the counter, along with 13 sugar cookies. guess who ate them? not me, cuz you know i only go for rocks and camera lenses. needless to say, things did not go well for her the next day and she had to eat mom's special concoction until she felt better. unfortunately, as much fun as i've had with camera lenses, i have yet to figure out how to operate the camera so there is no photographic evidence. but don't worry. now that i've learned how to use the web, i'll be signing up for some photog classes to remedy that. off to surf the tubes!

rock in a hard place

well, this is what it has come to for feeding brother. his tummy has settled down, but we have to put something in the bowl to slow him down while he eats. he gets so excited you know. Miss Julie says they make bowls with this kinda stuff built into it, but we'll keep the rock since he loves those so much. just glad he's feeling better. maybe you should try that Miss Morgan!

even boxers get the blues

even the best boxers are prone to tummy aches. and since we're not exactly the best, we get 'em too! mom and dad just got back from another trip and we got back from camp. brother seems to have come home with a tummy ache - i think he ate too much finger paint. but mom always fixes us up nice when that happens. she learned from my carpet pad eating incident that the best thing for a boxer's aching tummy is pumpkin & rice. so since brother has been feelin' a little off, she makes him our special treat. yummee! and since we have sympathy pains, i get to eat some too.
so here's the magic concoction!

and here's how brother looks when mom is getting it ready (notice the "fangs")

and here's what brother often looks like after eating it.

much better ma!

Empty Nest

well, we knew it had to come and this Sat it did! momma duck finally had her babies and shortly after they had to leave. mom was happy and sad at the same time.
at least we got to walk them out!  we had to be a little patient while they each made their way out of the nest - and we had to stay out of site!
but then we got to escort them across the drive
through the yard
down the beach
and out to the river
we'll miss you guys! hope to see you again next year!

a little better view

here's another shot of momma duck's nest to give you an idea where she built it. it's really built up now with lots of feathers. these kids are spoiled - not even born and already they have a feather bed!

and here she is in all her cuteness!

Wild Kingdom

for the past week+ we've been seeing a male duck out front all by his lonesome. Ma was commenting today on how sad that was that he lost his girl and she hoped nothing bad had happened to her. remember our ducks from last year? well, it's quite possible they've returned but chosen safer/higher ground. Pa confirmed this morning that there's a momma duck with 5 eggs in our big planter box out front of the house - the side away from the river. Ma plans on taking pics when she gets home so you can see. but this year we're really gonna try and give 'em some privacy so hopefully the babies will make it. prayers please!

snaggle tooth

and this is what eating all those chocolate chip cookies will do to you. sister lost a tooth this morning. fell right out. now she looks like a hockey player with a top front tooth missing - that is when she'll let you pull her gums up to see. we'll put it under the pillow tonight and see what the tooth fary brings.

accident prone

well, brother is just as accident prone as mom. we were out Sat playing hockey with pa - actually pa knocks the puck around and we try to steal it. at some point, pa ran over brothers foot and cut it pretty bad. as luck would have it, pa just got his blades sharpened the day before. mom and pa were able to bandage up brothers foot, but not before bleeding quite a bit. so he now has the home made cast. when he goes outside, mom puts a plastic bag on it so he won't aggravate it even more. i would call him The Boy With the Plastic Baggie, but he's pretty sensitive about it right now, so i'll hold off! love you Butters.
